Polish Iskierczanie Musical Performance @The Polish Heritage Center

The Polish Heritage Center will host Iskierczanie, a group of musicians from Poland who get inspiration from the old fiddle village music of southeast Poland, on Thursday, Dec. 1, 2022, at 2 P.M.

The band follows the traditional idiom of playing music, especially from the Rzeszów, Tarnów, and Pogórze regions of Poland. They learn from the experience of the older generation of musicians, as well as archival materials—audio recordings and sheet music. The group also gives concerts, conducts workshops on playing folk instruments, co-leads dance classes, and takes part in many other musical projects.

Band members include first fiddle Jakub Czapla, a young musician and musicology student interested in the musical traditions of old village music; second fiddle Boguslaw Kaminski, who has over forty years of experience playing the fiddle and clarinet in traditional bands. Stanislaw Czapla is the founder, composer, and arranger of the band, while also playing double bass, basy, and trumpet.
